Fog Computing - New Revolution in Cloud Computing

From Kitchen to Aircrafts, Everything in this universe is in search of their own IP address on the basis of IoT. According to analysts, 50-75 billion connected devices would be there in 2020.
And the future computing would be dependant on cloud computing. It is important to let the data arrive at the cloud and processed and back it to end-device.

What is Fog-Computing?

It is a new computing model which created for Internet of Things(IoT) developed by CISCO. It is a model of spreading cloud computing and services to network edges from network centers. Its working is similar to cloud. One main difference from the cloud is, it doesn't processes and saving the data on cloud. It only processes in the local storage of smart devices (Set top box,etc.). It processes faster in its local location without the help of cloud. By preventing useless data flowing to cloud, we can avoid internet traffic for a limit. Here, fog systems are abide near to the data sources, so that there will not be any lag in computation and communication. Cisco shows a jet engine's working has internet connectivity, as example for fog computing. This jet engine would create a data of 10 TB within its 30 minutes working. For transferring this data from the source and vice versa would take too bandwidth. Here, fog computing is a remedy. It processes data in its local itself.
Really, fog is not an enemy of cloud. But some specialities of fog differs it from the cloud. In fog, it uses real-time interactions instead of batch processing.

Application Areas

1) Connected cars : Cars can communicate with each other and could avoid accidents.

2) Smart Grids : Used in intelligent electrical grids and can save energy consumption and interchange

energy sources as available.

3)Smart Traffic Lights : Street lights can automatically interchangeable if an instance occured. For example; Traffic lights detects an ambulance's flash lights and adjusts itself to make way for ambulance.

4) Self maintainings Trains : It can sense all parts of train and gives the info to train operator and could avoid risks.

We can handle data 'Tsunami' using Fog computing.
